An announcement from British Institute of Learning Disabilities:
The Ageing Well with Learning Disabilities Conference 2022 is a one-day hybrid conference, featuring a fantastic programme exploring best practice in supporting people as they age.
This hybrid conference, taking place at the Birmingham Crowne Plaza Hotel and online, will support those working directly with people with learning disabilities and autistic people, as well those with a more managerial or strategic role within services.
People with learning disabilities and autistic people are known to experience greater health inequalities and die at a younger age than the general population. Bild’s Growing Older with Learning Disabilities (GOLD) conferences are designed to enable professionals and care and support workers, to support people to live long, happy and healthy lives.
The programme features a range of keynotes from professionals working in the field and people with lived experience, focussed on supporting people with learning disabilities throughout their lives. In addition, a range of workshops will offer the opportunity to explore practical ways of supporting people to achieve the good quality health and care they are entitled to.
Topics covered include best practice for people on an end-of-life pathway; loneliness and isolation in older age the impact of menopause on wellbeing and fall prevention in older adults with learning disabilities.
